Hi Rusty,
I found my old jump rope today and decided to give it a go. I'm 13, Miserably weigh 70 kg, and 163 cm. I don't prefer to run. I live in a very crowded place so there's no place to go down for a run or something like that, and the gym's far away. I have a huge muffin top, very flabby arms and thighs, and a kinda fat stomach. I've decided to start rope jumping. I don't rope jump based on time, but on number of times. And not in one go. Like i do 50, take 30 seconds rest, then 50-100, 30 seconds rest, 50, rest, 100. rest for an hour or so, And then again do 50. Like That. I plan to do around 1250 jumps a day. That's 25 sets of 50 each. Is it enough? And I'm planning to undergo a strict diet. My Goal weight is 55, And by when can I get that, at the earliest? I have a body fat percentage of 31%.
Any help Would be appreciated (:

Hi, I'm trying to lose 15 lbs, no set date. I weigh 165. I've been pushing back from the table, drinking more water, and want to start jump roping. I don't want to lose my curves just tone them! Can you let me know if jump roping will accomplish this, how long do I need to jump rope, and when will I see some results?

you need to feed yourself by the sound of it you are not eating enough so your body will try to hold onto the fat the it has. fee you body and muscles and you should see a difference, you should be eating 5-6 meals a day with your biggest being break fast and lunch.

Hey Rusty, very interesting page, and thanks for including the video - very Rocky Balboa. Of course, skipping is an old school exercise for boxers, probably something to do with integrating Rhythm and Hand/Eye coordination into the exercise. I haven't done any skipping in years, probably because I don't have much space at the moment (low ceiling). However, when I move house I will remember your advice, including the point about it being adjustable. Thanks :)

@Jose. Perhaps use skipping/jump rope to warm up before your workouts?

I can confirm this works. I had developed a pretty noticeable beer belly and just 2 weeks of jumping rope like Rusty recommends, by adopting a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) approach, my gut went down almost to normal. Sure, not everyone experiences results this quickly but I can definitelly tell you this will get you in the right direction. Thanks, Rusty!

Jumping rope is a great HIIT workout. I like to use jumping rope as a session on it's own and also a component for my crossfit sessions. By incorporating jump rope sessions into my training routine I have managed to drop my body fat percentage to under 10%. I will be posting on my site a few variations that I do with my jump rope workouts. Thanks for the routine outlined above, I will be sure to try it out.

Hey rusty,

Stumbled on your site when googling jump rope routines! I used to jump for about 15mins a day, then hurt my foot real bad about two months ago. Its pretty much okay now, and im jumping about 5 mins a day but HIIT style. Would that still be effective in burning fat? Just wondering, and would appreciate your input!
Btw love your site, got lots of helpful advice! Thanks again
