Which 5 Workout Songs Get You "Pumped Up"?
Hey…I want to know your top 5 workout songs that you are listening to today! Yep…I would love for you guys to put your list down in the "comment" section. I'm just curious to see what everybody is listening to that gets them ready to hit the gym and workout hard.

For the record, I'm open to anything with a beat when I workout. I'm a Seattle guy and in this city alternative rock or techno is really big. There are certainly other types of clubs mixed in, but the "hip" crowd here mainly listens to techno or house music.
The nice thing about techno is that it has a fast pace to it, so it is great music to listen to when you are doing cardio. I like R&B also, but it normally has to be some sort of remix for me to be able to workout to it. I can't really get into hardcore "hip hop", although I know it gets a lot of guys and girls pumped up for working out…and that is all that really matters.
The one type of music that I think would be extremely tough to workout to would be country. I think it would slow me down (and annoy me). If you do like country, that is cool…make sure you list which songs get you pumped up. I live downtown, so I never ever hear country…maybe it's good stuff?
Here is My "Top 5" List…With Videos
1) Daft Punk "One More Time" A classic dance/techno song that crossed over into the main stream. I fell in love with this song again, once I saw a video of their most recent tour. This tour has been called one of the best live shows of the decade. Watch this whole video to see the ridiculous energy of the crowd (about 2 1/2 minutes into this they switch things up and the crowd goes nuts)!
2) Dj Tiesto ft. Kane "Rain on Me" This song has incredible vocals and a great beat. DJ Tiesto is widely known as the top DJ in the world. He isn't quite as well known in the U.S. as he is in other countries. In places like Europe and South America, he can easily pack in 30,000+ to one of his shows. He is the "Rock Star" of DJ's for sure!
3) Ferry Corsten "Fire" Love this song! Can't get enough of it. It's been out for a while, but I like it better every time I listen to it. It has a nice "clean" and smooth sound for a techno song. If the vocals sound familiar it's because it is Simon LeBon from Duran Duran.
4) Fedde Le Grande "Put Your Hands Up For Detroit"…Note…if you are offended by women in skimpy clothes, please don't watch this video (the funny thing is now everyone will watch this…LOL!)
5) Justin Timberlake "My Love…Paul Oakenfold Remix" I'm not a huge Justin Timberlake fan, but I do think he is extremely talented. Paul Oakenfold is awesome at adding beats to improve a song. I really love this version and I have a hard time listening to this without bobbing my head. Great stuff!

I've got a favorite. I don't like Eminem, or rap for that matter, but I can't get enough of the song, "Lose Yourself", while running or working out.
I can't explain it but I've listened to that song thousands of times and it just doesn't get old!

I notice one of your listed songs is a Justin Timberlake (I'm not a huge fan overall either). I actually bumped into Justin Timberlake in a spa in Toronto a couple of weeks ago. I think he was in Canada for a concert. I was walking around a corner from the washrooms and he was walking down a hallway from the gym. I was wearing a white bath robe, and stepped on his toe!
I have an iPod nano jam-packed with different types of music, from rap to rock and everything in between. When I really want to get pumped to run hard I usually listen to the following:
Buttons – The Pussy Cat Dolls
Choke Me Spank Me (pull my hair) – Xzibit
Crazy B**** – Buckcherry
Lit up – Buckcherry (for some reason music with references to cocaine really make me run like the wind!…don't know why)
No Hay Igual (club mix) – Nelly Furtado
That's my list of five…strange mix perhaps, but it gets me going!

Since don't bring an i-pod to the gym i can't listen to the music i want. But i would have some idea hat to listen to:
Madonna- Hung up, Jump
DMX- Party up (i know it's hip-hop but a energetic one), X gonna give it to ya
Filo& Perry feat Fisher- Closer now (trance)
Kyau&Albert- Falling Anywhere(Rework) (trance)
Marc Van Linden- Forbidden love (trance)
Whiteroom feat Amy Cooper- someday (trance)
Camille Jones- the Creeps – i think it's a great one
Timbaland -The way i are

Very good lists so far!
Scott: Yeah…sometimes certain songs just click
Jennifer: That is crazy you ran into Justin Timberlake! As far as celebrities go, he is about as big as you get right now. Very cool. You gotta a little bit of Rock in there mixed with some hip-hop R&B dance stuff…that is a great variety.
Tyler: I don't always bring an I-pod to the gym sometimes I just listen to good music before I workout. I like the ability to talk to people when I workout, so I can tell them when they are acting like tards…LOL! I like "The Creeps" as well…got some funky old-school techno sounds going on.

Primus -(multiple songs)
2Pac – (multiple songs)
Hank III – (multiple songs)
Sex Pistols – (multiple songs)
Tom Waits – Goin' Out West
Its difficult to narrow it down to only 5 songs, but this represents a lot of my workout music…It varies of course.

I'm not laughing, but you gotta admit the Pat Benatar choice is funny! Just don't do your makeup like Pat and everything will be okay.
Good stuff if it gets you ready to wokout hard!

i have a preference for any kind of violent rap music.
Especially songs containing gunshots and the repetitive inclusion of words such as bitch, ho, and muh-fucka. I like to feel gangsta when im lifting wieghts and jumping rope like a showoff near the dumbells.
Outside of the gym I don't even like rap. lol

Well…different strokes for different folks. As long as you don't sing along with these explicit lyrics in the gym then that is cool.

Interesting selections by all. I prefer hardcore music, which is a fusion of punk rock and metal. I can't stand heavy metal, because it's all mostly negative, and always the same artists. Hardcore has new fresh faces not looking for all the stardom, just mostly out to spread a positive message. There's subgenres within hardcore, and I stick mostly to Screamo, Jesuscore, and some Straight Edge/XXX (stands for: no drugs, no alcohol, and strict practice of monogamy). There's a whole wikipedia article on this so enough explanation.
Here's my 5 of many favorite bands at the gym:
1 Underoath
2 War of Ages
3 Fight the Battle
4 It Dies Today
5 Inhale Exhale
Once in a while Smooth Jazz music will get mixed up in the shuffle, which ironically gives me an extra shot of energy simply because of the change-up.

High intensity work:
Silverchair – Isreal's Son
Drowning Pool – Bodies
Lamb of God – Ashes of the wake
Skrape – Isolated
Dragonforce – Body breakdown
It's all very angry, loud and fast.
For more tempo based lower intensity things (high rep or cardio), I'll take anything with a beat really
Alchemist ft. Prodigy, Illa Gee & Nina Sky – Hold You Down
Alkaline Trio – Burn
Da Rude – Sandstorm
Daft Punk – One More Time
DJ Tiesto vs Kane – Rain down on me [radio edit]

Matt,
I'm a fellow 80's kid as well. That stuff reminds me of early MTV. I remember talking about MTV the week it launched. It was so much better back then!
My favorite 80's stuff…I was more a "new wave" guy.
INXS- Never Tear Us Apart (my all time favorite slow song)
Clash (technically late 70's)
New Order – Bizzare Love Triangle
Modern English – Melt With You
I miss the 80's! They actually sang song with melodies. A lot of the stuff now sometimes feels like a bit of a "cop out"…quite a bit of sampling of the 70's and 80's without too much original stuff.
Cheers,
Rusty

I can not find the article on " how to get hollywood fit in 30 days" or something like that. Getting fit fast, I know you said you would put it on the web site but I can't find it.
Today is the first day that I have found your site, and I think it's just what I've been looking for. But I'm having a hard time with the "what to eat" "eat or not to eat". I want to get lean, I have muscle. I can do the not eat thing, but I need energy. What's the answer to that? Please I'm searching for the get lean and have energy answer. I work out hard and often, but I'm not getting lean and I'm tired, too tired.
Thanks for a great web site.

For lifting or HIIT I just want something with balls:

3. Rise Against – Paper Wings
2. Justice – DVNO (or Iron Maiden – The Trooper, depending on my mood)
1. Most of the time it's Prodigy – Spitfire, but depending on the mood I'm in, I might prefer Muse – Hurricanes and Butterflies, or Korpiklaani – Vodka.
For those questioning my choice of Muse for first, it's due to the lyrics themselves, not the speed or anything else about that song.
