Hello to all, i'm from Greece, male, 20 years old, and following this diet i have lost 15 kilos in 2 months (from 100 to 85 kg). It's a really great method, because i'm not feeling hungry anymore during the day, and i really have a great mood and clear mind now.

In the first 2-3 weeks i was feeling hungry after 3-4 hours, but after two months i got used to it and my body got rid of the sensation of hunger.

Hi, the comments here are really good and reassuring. I used to eat once a day some time ago for a very long time and I have never been better in my life physically and energetically speaking. I gained 20 pounds in only a few months and I am now trying to go back to my usual weight but it's been frustrating, none of my clothes fit and I feel like I might have a problem because none of the diets I've tried work, I gain weight instead no matter how healthy I eat. I've been in this once a day lifestyle for a week now and have lost only one pound. This is very discouraging and frustrating!!! Will it improve? What am I doing wrong? I have 20 pounds to lose so you can imagine how I feel, and after failing at losing weight so many times, this is a downer. I eat healthy by the way, the best products and not so large portions.
Thanks!

Hello everbody, I have been following this blog since 2010 and I just started this way of eating Monday. I was pregnant 2010-2011 so I knew this diet wouldn't work for me then. Now my baby is 6 months and thought it was a good time to start. I feel good for the most part, but one thing I have understood is to make sure to eat enough calories or you will be very hungry. Yesterday I know I didn't eat enough calories so I felt very low in my bloodsugar. Today I made sure I ate at least 1000 calories and I feel much better. And I don't eat my one meal at night, I eat between 12-1pm since I workout every morning, I still sleep very soundly at night. And I nibble on some nuts right before and immidiatley after so I have enough energy for my workouts, which I do 5 days a week. My starting weight is 166 and wish to lose down to 130lbs. I am staying away from the scale for a while because I don't wanna obsess over it, which I normally do. I love all your posts and hope you have all found success eating this way.

Hi,
I have started this way of eating and am on my third day. I am 40 lbs overweight. I lost 20 by eating three meals a day, no snacks but kept falling off the wagon. This is already much easier to stay on the straight and narrow. I am somewhat compulsive, weigh myself once a week, then once a day, then several times a day even though I know how foolish that is. So this time I decided to weigh in today, 2/1/12 and took the scale away until 3/1/12. I am turning 46 on the 4th and am ready to get my life back. I will check in periodically and will list numbers on 3/1/12. My stats are 146lbs, 37" waist and 38% BF. Wish me good luck, please!

Megan,

I find it easier to sleep if I have my one large meal of the day at night so I dont go to bed hungry.

Today is day one for me, so excited! I'm starting a 90-day challenge where I eat one meal, work out and drink a gallon of water every single day. Once I reach 90 days I'll give myself a break from working out on the weekends, but I know if I can go that long solid, I can do it for a lifetime :-)

I looked up eating one meal per day only to discover that everyone doing it this way eats their calories at night. I started doing this about a week ago, but instead eat all of my calories in the morning. It gives me something to look forward to when I wake up and I'm not hungry at all through out the day and my cravings seem to have vanished. From reading all the forums, I feel like I'm the only one doing it this way. Which is weird, as it makes more sense to me. I'm just wondering what the difference is of eating all your calories in the morning vs. night time and if I'll still see weight loss results eating a big breakfast (which I always assumed was the most important meal of the day)

Hi Everyone,
First of all I will start out by saying that I did this same way of eating years ago. I over weight growing up and when I got into 7th grade one day I just told myself that "I had enough"! I was tired of being made fun of and being miserable. I knew that if I was to just stop eating that my parents would know and make me stop so the other option that I had was to stop eating breakfast and lunch and then just eat with my family for the dinner meal. Well I started doing this and I would also try to do some jumping jacks and toe touches to get in some exersize. Well I can't begin to tell you how excited I was when my weight just started to fall off. In what seemed to be a very short time I believe that I lost around 30 pounds or maybe more. I hadn't got on the scales before I started because it would, for me anyway be depressing. I went from a size 12-14 to a size 4, and I can't describe how it felt to go into a store and pick out something to wear and "nothing was too small". Now that was a lot of years ago as I am now 54 years old, but I have NEVER forgotten how it felt and I want to feel that way again. Over the years I have had some health problems and was involved in a bad car accident that laid me up for several months, now don't get me wrong it still is not excuse for gaining weight, but it is a reason. Anyway I started
one week ago tomorrow on the way of eating, and I got on the scale today and lost 5 lbs! I am happy, and I want to continue with this lifestyle until a I lose another 20 lbs. For me it is just so much easier only eating at dinner time, that way if I am with my family I don't have to explain myself. I hate that , because then I do end of eating, and I am not even that hungrey when I do. So I am going to allow myself one "free" day that I can eat lunch, but other than that I am sticking with this. I really want to feel better and look better. For me there is just nothing much better than your self esteem, and I don't care how many "experts" tell you that you should eat 3-6 times per day, I did that for years and the only thing it did for me was to gain about 30 lbs of ugly fat !!

January 22, 2012

When I was in the Army I used to eat just one meal a day and work out 5x a day (mandatory). Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays - Running; Tuesdays and Thursdays - Muscle Failure. I was weighing the lowest I have ever weighed: 130lbs at 5'2.

I got pregnant and gained a lot of weight (185lbs) but was able to lose most of the weight (150lbs). Since I've gotten out of the Army, obviously I have stopped working out and eat a lot more with a desk job.

I think I started this one meal a day again around January 10, 2012 weighing at 187.5; today I weigh 180.3
Tomorrow I am going to start working out to boost the weight loss.

@ LINTH: Congrats on pushing through the hunger :)

@ CHANDRIKA: Please keep us posted on your progress!

Last week I ate only one meal for two days. For the month of January 2012, I have eaten one meal on only four days. I have 11 more days to eat only one meal, and I'll do it! I'll be sure to provide an update here next weekend.

i m 16 years old, i m 80 kg (176pound)the day before yesterday and around 163cm tall.. i tried this diet secretly, lol. i started yesterday, slowly since i really love to eat, so:
day 1: eat chicken with rice at 2 pm, and beef with rice at 7 pm, i lost 1 kg
day 2: drink milk at morning, chicken, fries and some rice in evening and a glass of milk again

i havent measure my weight nor waist line (around 87cm) because i dont want to feel depressed looking at the scale everyday, i'll measure both of them at monday (i hide the scale for now XD )

i still feel hungry, but i get better at day 2, i sleep well, and when i almost give up today somehow i did it XD !

i'll try to post as soon as i do the measurement :) !!

btw, my ideal weight is around 55kg (121pound)

I found this blog because I had come to the conclusion that I needed to be eating 1 meal a day, in the evening, to suit myself.

Last year I lost 2 stone on a calorie controlled diet, with exercise and alot of will power, but have been finding it hard to stick within calories now I am at my goal weight, when eating the normal breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. The problem for me is I am small and have just 1500cals to play with to maintain my weight. After taking out 2 protein drinks and milk in my coffees, I have just 1200 cals to play with. So each meal was too small and unsatisfying, I wanted to feel full.

I would rather feel full and satiated once a day, than have little and often that kept me craving more. So I am glad to see that these is some sense behind it and that others do it with no harm.

I will still drink my coffees and have my protein drink during the day, but will save eating for the evening when I can get a nice full tummy to go to bed on!

I think everyone can appreciate this video linked below. Walker is a fighter who has been and continues to eat one meal a day, at 8pm or 9pm, for OVER 20 YEARS! Look at his body... not an emaciated person by any means or one suffering from the mythical "starvation mode". His daily meal consists of soup, salad, and a little protein.
