Great book Rusty, thanks. I guess this largely confirms what a lot of people are thankfully starting to realise; that a lot of the crap on sale out there and the associated marketing BS are designed for one thing - separating you and your £s.
Funny how a lot of the best info out there is free (i.i. sites like this. The people who really care generally want to help people with their goals first and foremost, big companies want to keep you ignorant, over weight and unhealthy so they still have a market) and the best nutrition comes from good old fashioned whole food (although even here people will try to jump on the band wagon and throw a load of marketing spin on something that's always been around).
I do have one question - generally you promote eating whole, unprocessed foods 80-90% of the time, I was wondering where whey fits in here as whey protein isolate is pretty heavily processed and these powders pretty much always contain sweeteners (usually sucralose). I don't rely on these things but see them as a convenience supplement and use them quite often so can this count as part of a 'clean' diet?

Hey Rusty, thanks for letting us know about your book and reminding us of the importance of knowing the facts behind bodybuilding and anti aging supplements and the industry behind them as well. After all, we're putting them into our bodies! The thing I usually check for is whether the company tests its products, either themselves or by third party and do this often with all their raw products, not just the once in a while. I think more people may be expecting or preferring this.

Great info, Rusty! I could have used that info when I started bodybuilding years ago, and getting suckered at GNC into buying a bunch of unnecessary junk. Anyone remember "Hot Stuff" and "Cybergenics"? LMAO

Hey Rusty, you should put one of these free AddThis buttons on your site. It makes it easy to share stuff throughout websites like DiGG and Facebook. I've seen them on other sites.
Check the site out: http://www.addthis.com/
This way we can spread your report around like wildfire.

Awesome post. I love this site because it gave me the necessary tools to achieve my goal of less than 10% bodyfat. I'm now in maintenance phase and I would like to put on a couple more pounds of muscle, if possible, but I don't want to use the body builder method of consuming extra calories to put on muscle (while gaining some fat as well). I don't want to get bulky, but if I continue to follow the principles (ie. not going to muscle failure) on this site and add creatine to my diet will I put on the couple more pounds of muscle over time? I don't care if it takes several months to put on the muscle. I just want to know if this will work since John & Brad said creatine was the most effective supplement to put on muscle, but it isn't completely clear to me if you need to go to muscle failure when using creatine to add additional muscle.

I actually read the book right after I downloaded it and Tweeted it. That's a good one!

May I ask where you got your e-book cover? I'm in the process of finishing one and I need to find a good quality cover.

Thanks in advanced!

Helder,

Thanks buddy! I'm getting about 4,000-5,000 visitors per day and about 12,000 page views...so around 150,000 visitors and 400,000 page views per month. I want to reach as many people as possible, because I love the community feel of the Internet. My goal when I started was to contribute and add something positive to the Internet. Too much negative stuff online...I want to do my part to clean up the Internet (even though my site and reach is tiny compared to the vast internet).

Thanks for reading for so long :)

Adam,

Yeah...I have been working on this a while "behind the scenes". I think you will enjoy the book. These guys are a "breath of fresh air" when it comes to talking about supplements.

Chiggers,

I saw that link and I appreciate it buddy. I agree with a lot of philosophies over at Dragondoor. As a matter of fact, I bought Power to the People by Pavel over 10 years ago, and consider it one of the best books ever written on strength training.

Helder,

Yeah, those guys have been hating me for close to 2 years now (I can't believe my site has been around that long). Even if they despise me, I hope they download the book and maybe save a bit of cash on supplements. I am playing around for the most part when I clown on bodybuilders. There are a small percent that are obnoxious beyond belief, but most of the guys and girls just want to get as big as possible without bugging anyone. That being said, I will never recommend that people add on unnecessary amounts of muscle onto their frame...just trying to make the world a healthier and sexier place :)

ahm,

I'm glad the download worked well. I know that the servers were tied up a bit the first few hours after I launched it, but it is smooth sailing now. Some of the salespeople in the supplement stores are pretty convincing to people...especially people who desperately want to lose weight or gain muscle. My report is meant to counter-balance that.

Yash,

I didn't know that you are a pre-med student. Very cool! I would be terrible at being a doctor, since I get queasy around needles or blood. It is so good this world is full of people with different skills and interests. Thanks goodness that people like you can hack the pressure of being a doctor. I just could do it!

Mike,

I really appreciate it that you linked to my book on your site (with graphics and everything)...that is ultra-cool of you! I owe ya one buddy!

Caleb,

I don't have really great graphic design skills, so I hired one of the best graphic designers on the web. The company name is Graphics Genie. People can do a Google Search if they are interested. I highly recommend these guys.

Patrick,

I followed a similar path. I spent a lot of money on supplements when I started out (and this is when I was a poor college student). Yes, I did take 25mg ephedrine with 200mg of caffeine back in the early 90's. I did it one summer before a California road trip and it worked well in helping me lose body fat, but I felt terrible. I couldn't sleep at night and was "on edge" most of the time. The following summer I got just as lean without ephedrine...it just took about 3-4 weeks longer. These days, I stay lean year round, so I just do everything without the aid of supplements. I do have a few protein powder packets on my fridge in case I am too lazy to hit the grocery store, but that is a rare situation these days.

James,

From what I understand about creatine is timing isn't as important as some would make it. It also isn't important to spike the blood sugar. I'll ask John when I get the chance. I went on a rant about those fake advertisements online as well. There are thousands of fake blogs popping up all over the place selling Acai Berry. Fake pictures, fake comments, etc. It really is a bummer. I appreciate long comments, so no worries...thanks for commenting!

Chris,

Thanks for the plug. I know you have a well-respected blog and I appreciate it!

pnw,

You will like the read. It is easy to digest and you will come out with a better understanding of how our diets provide most of the nutrients that we need.

Acai Berry,

My girlfriend has pushed me hard towards eating organic. I do feel better when I eat organic foods. It may be in my mind, but I swear organic food seems to digest better.

Roger,

I hope you are right. I'm all about Preventative Medicine.

Chris (Zen to Fitness),

I know I've told you this a few times already, but your blog is outstanding. I'm impressed every time I visit. All posts are to the point and entertaining. Keep it up buddy...and thanks in advance for any help spreading the word about my free report.

Brian,

Glad you like the book. I'm trying to pump out at least two posts per week. What I also plan on doing is send one free 3 page mini-course each week on different topics to people who download The Supplement Conspiracy. I can go a bit more in-depth on a 3 page HTML site than I can on a blog. This was one of the reasons I wanted to get people to signup for The Supplement Conspiracy.

Michael,

Well as people mentioned...their first names are John and Brad. Two smart and honest guys!

fitness-siren,

You will enjoy the book, especially since you are in R&D yourself. I just checked out your site. I need to take a trip to Southern California with my girlfriend! I love the Coast...there are so many cool little surf towns up and down the Southern Calirfornia coast.

FitJerk,

You are correct about supplements...and I hope people don't think that I think that all supplements are bad. I just want people to know that they can get to a high level of fitness without them. Money is tight for a lot of people these days and I just don't want people to think that they are missing out, by not being able to afford a high-end diet pill or protein powder.

Ricky (JE),

You kick butt, buddy! I just signed up for Facebook and joined that group. I have always been hesitant to join Facebook, since I thought it would eat up my time, but I knew someone would be able to get me to do it sooner or later. Thanks a bunch.

Darren,

Thanks for commenting! Darren lives in the UK and is the guy who designed the ebook and opt-in page. As you can tell...he has crazy skills!

flowerd,

The big butt thing is largely genetic. Obviously you could do squats to build up the butt, but the legs will get bigger as well.

Magick,

The best way to do cable crossovers for upper pec work is to roll in an incline bench. Put the pulleys on the lowest setting and then do flyes on the incline bench with the cables. Make sure that your arms and elbows are in line with your upper pec area when you do the flyes. On the last rep of each set, squeeze the handles together and try to flex your upper pecs hard. This exercise will aid in getting that line down the middle of your upper pecs. To be honest this is actually not Cable Fly's not cable crossovers...but this is better at developing the upper pec region. Follow this exercise with dumbbell incline presses to work the upper pecs to a greater degree.

Yash,

I think creatine is really only needed if a guy is exceptionally skinny and wants to quickly add fat free mass (provided he is eating properly). The results do last even when someone ceases taking this supplement. They won't be as big as when they are fully "loaded" with creatine, but bigger than when they started. I prefer the lean and dense look, over the bigger massive look...so I wouldn't take it, but it certainly works well for those people tho do want to add mass.

kristin,

I would recommend training for strength for low reps and low volume (not too many sets)...and then work HIIT and intervals hard. Do this on a low calorie diet to insure that you create a calorie deficit. You will lose body fat while retaining all of your muscle. This will create that slim and toned look you are after. Works every time!

Tom,

You are adding mass, so those supplements are ideal. These guys certainly "keep it real" when it comes to nutrition. You have to like that!

Harry,

Thanks a bunch. I appreciate the compliments and I do my best to help :) I just wish there was more than 24 hours in a day...I have plenty more I need to write about. Keep reading and thanks for commenting!

myra,

As long as I make you guys happy, that is all that matters to me. I don't mind it if people get a bit upset at this little ebook...I am just doing my best to help people out. The great thing is that Brad and Jonh bring some serious credibility to the report. I can't thank them enough. It was really cool of them to do me this big favor.

600+ Downloads in the first 48 hours...only 9,400 to go!

Yeah…I have been working on this a while "behind the scenes".
