I'd say both the warrior diet and eat stop eat are good approaches. They key is consistency. Thanks for the review!

I love this sight and would really like to see some answers to some of the questions that have been asked lately. ANYONE there??? I could learn a lot more if I knew some of these answers. I just bought Caleb Lee's Superdiet book. Has anyone out there tried it. Seems like a mix of some of the diets on here. Getting married in about 3 months and need to lose a lot of weight (about 30 pounds) as I have gained a lot since I had a hysterectomy(no HRT meds) and aquiring three migh maintanance step-children. Anyone know how to lower Cortisol levels, is there a supplement that will do this? Is Caleb Lee's Superdiet the same as double your gains? I can not find anything online about it, except the blogs done by caleb lee himself. Would like outside nonbiased results and opinions. Anyone??? It is intermittent fasting and I am so excited to stop forcing myself to eat 6 times a day, it feels soooo counterproductive and unnatural to me because I have noooo desire to eat at all until maybe 4pm. I also wanted to know about having cream or half and half in my coffee during a fast as this is my only hinderence so far. I am on day two of my fast. eating only from 6pm to 10pm and yesterday (first day) I was groggy and a bit dizzy but probably just because it's new. I did however notice that by 6pm I had forgotten to eat and almost missed my eating window from 6 to 10pm. It feels so good to have an empty stomach. I have been having a lot of digestive issues (before I started), gas all the time, bloating when I eat anything no matter what it is, constipation. Feel so much better (digestively speaking) not having food in my stomach except at one mealtime (6 to 10pm). I do want to know if having a protein bar during the my fast will screw up my results at all though. Sometimes (like after a workout) I need that so I don't get a headache or feel dizzy. I useLife choice bars, they are the best. But will that negate the affects of how wonderfully effective a fast should be during the 18 to 24 hour period because I broke it up with a protein bar or protein shake??? I hope I get an answer soon as this blog is only useful if there is somneone (a professional) here to answer the numerous questions posted. :)Thanks so much

Well, personally I do not really believe in this sort of diet. Ive tried many of them, all kind. Some of them works, some of them less, or not at all. But what was common for the all diets I've tried - I did gain my weight back and couldn't do anything about it. And then somebody advice me a dvd, from the site www.afvalmethodes.com The site is in Dutch, but Ive just click on the pic without even reading it. So Ive ordered and was really impressed. Losing weight doesn't have to be hard, or frustrating, but it can be healthy, tasty and fun. And the most important, the weight got dropped AND STAYED that! That was really working. But thanks, I do recommend yours to some of my fellows. I think the warrior diet will work for them. So will come back here with update!

36 hour fast...WOWZA!

I've personally done plenty of 24-hour fasts, but I've never tried pushing it to 36 hours. Honestly, I don't think it would be as hard as it sounds because as Hayley mentions above, you can sleep through about 16 hours of it.

These days I don't really fast for 24 hours anymore, but instead do a daily ~16 hour one ala Martin Berkhan. Your 36 hour has me curious though, and I'm really tempted to try it to see how much of a difference it really is in comparison to a 24-hour fast.

Dima, I agree so much with what you said about this way of eating being "liberating" - I really love it, too. I also like that we can eat socially and not have to restrict ourselves of things because of being on a certain diet. Lastly, we'll probably get in trouble for this but I like your 36 hour weekly fast as well - I instinctively like to do that, too - I just feel better taking a bit of a longer food break once in a while. Thanks for your helpful info! =)

Well... it is much easier to adhere to a diet if you just "sleep" through the "stiking points". Your body switches to fat burning mode while you are asleep. If you eat your big meal in the morning
1. You need time to prepare the QUALITY meal (I'd rather sleep! as bang for the buck, good sleep trumps the diet.)
2. Your gut is not awoken completely so you are pretty much stressing it with large meal.
3. You will crash badly after the large meal right at the time when you are supposed to be productive.

So any way you put it, large breakfast only adds stress and defeats the purpose.

I'm currently using a hybrid of ESE/WD

I eat once a day (at night within a 1-2h window) and fast for 36h once a week.
It seems to be working pretty well. (I've dropped 10lb in past 2 month), however my DL is now at 410lb, bench press at 270lb and weighted chinups @ 65lb. My weight is under 180lb btw. And I try to keep my daily intake (during workout days) under 1900kcal and non workout under 1000kcal.

I don't think I'll be ever go back to a "traditional" diet. Once you are free of worries what to stuff down your pie hole till late evening is extremely liberating.
Ability to skip the whole day is even more so...

Yes, you can eat only one time a day and do a complete fast the rest of the day - I have learned that a lot of people do that with great results.

Regarding my question two posts above - when I say eat only once a day, I mean eating nothing else at all - only one healthy meal a day and complete fasting the rest of the day. Thanks!

hi,
I have been on warrior diet for about 6 months now and its done wonders. I have lost around 10kgs so far. It was a difficult schedule to stick to when I had to fast all day and eat only in the evening but my body responded to it quickly and got adjusted to it. I have been feeling more energetic during the day and have managed to keep a tab on my weight. However, off late I have not been losing more weight even though I have been following the same diet plan. I was on a holiday for about 2 weeks and I was completely off the diet and after I resumed the diet again, so significant weight loss has been observed. Does this mean that my body has become “immune” to the warrior diet? Should I try something else now?
Thank you.

What about fasting during the day and just eating one moderate-sized and healthy evening meal? Can a person just eat one healthy meal a day and be okay? Thanks.

Hey, so I found you blog through a list of the best 20 fitness blogs and I LOVE IT. I'm a women 5'3", 110-112lbs, ~16% bodyfat (this is based off of tape measuring and probably messy caliper measurements) I'm pretty damn lean right now, I've got toning on my arms and a 4pack but I wanna look badass! Some women would be happy with figure but I've got aspirations to look exceptional. I want to get to about 14% body fat and lose around 2lbs of fat in general. I've been doing the leangains fasting approach (not really following the diet approach) with a 8/16 hours fast and doing fasted training (totally agree with you about fasted training). I train 6 days/week with a combonation of metabolic weight training and HIIT (in the form of Bodyrock if you know) for 45-60min. I'm on my 4th day of a keto diet, planning on doing it strict for 2 weeks before any refeeding. What I want to know is, should I try doing doing some ESE type fasting days on my non-workout day? Also, I eat around 1500 cal/day, should I go lower? I feel a little dissatisfied with 1200 cal/day but do you think adding in an ESE fast day once per week could help with that. You've got one bangin blog, love what I've read so far! Will absolute check out any ebook/book you put out!

Looks like this thread is still alive. I just hope Rusty still is!? I haven't seen a reply in a while. :) I have read thru all of the posts. Lots of information and good questions in just reading what everyone else has experienced. I am not claiming to be an expert in any way, but I have dabbled with IF for at least a couple years now I'd say and there really are TOO many variables which can make or break any of them. Just as with exercise. I read ESE a while back, but admittedly have not ever put that one into practice. Although I cannot see why it would not be a good choice. I also read Ori's WD book a while ago as well. I really like Martin Berkhans LeanGains protocol. I have been using that for a bulk period (I know that sounds counter-intuitive, but not everyone necessarily needs or wants to LOSE weight). I am now using a Fast-5/WD approach as a bit of a 'cut' phase. I will probably only use it for 1, maybe 2 weeks max, and then go back to LG for a few weeks and will attempt alternating back and forth. (4 weeks LG, 1-2 Weeks WD) as I really do try to keep my intake high while on LG (16-hour fast, 8-hour feeding window) and it does become difficult. SO the WD/Fast-5, 19-20 hour fasts are a bit of welcomed 'break'. I DO still TRY to keep intakes up, but it is basically impossible for me to do so, so a natural, couple pound weight loss is expected. Then back to LG. I think what a lot of folks are missing is that IF does not necessarily mean you absolutely HAVE to eat 1-meal, no matter what method you choose. They all have a re-feed 'window'. so you can break a fast with a 500-1000c lighter meal, and a few hours later go for your bigger, more satiating meal. All of this contingent on what your goals are of course. Just trying to point out you do have time to eat. It doesn't have to all go down at once. Also wanted to reply to 'Mike-July 26 2011' post about 'the shakes' If he is still tuned in. Again, not an expert, but I believe this can be a normal occurrence, especially when attempting to Fast for the 1st time and depending on the type of diet you are coming off of. It is likely Carb withdrawals. Sugar (esp. Fructose/HFCS etc.) can be very addicting, so it's almost like kicking a drug habit. the shakes should subside as you become a bit more accustomed to the Fasting process. I came from an Ironman Tri (IE: Hi-Carb, calories galore) lifestyle and it was hard initially to switch over to a more paleo/Zone/Higher Protein and Fat diet. And throwing the IF experiment in was tough going at first. As I said, too many variables in regards to this to say which one is 'the best'.
Best of Luck to all!

I have always thought it was bad to eat large meals at night.
I usually try to have a bigger breakfast, big lunch and small dinner(salad)
I wonder if people have experimented with having their big meal in the morning instead of at night?

Used to eat stop eat diet and i think it's a very good diet! The reason why i like it so much is that it's very easy to follow. You don't have to starve yourself in order to lose some weight.
